Job summary

Contechs Consulting Limited is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer in Troy, MI, to shape electrical architecture and wiring harness development for next-gen EVs. The role requires leading integration across mechanical, electrical, and software teams and driving robust testing and validation in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will define vehicle schematics, work with CAD tools, and apply LEAN methods to resolve issues from production to delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5 years of automotive electrical design and release experience.
• Hands-on schematic creation and supplier device transmittals.
• Experience with LV/HV components and vehicle electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Define 2D schematics for base vehicle and accessories, including wiring harnesses.
• Support designs using CAD while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software teams for integration.

They are looking for an Electrical Test Engineer to join their expanding team on a Contract basis. The role will be located in Troy, MI, USA.

• Our Client is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Wiring and Triage Engineer to join their growing team.
• The Client is a new US Based Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space.
• The technology is designed to deliver the most reliable and most efficient low cost of ownership electric vehicle on the market.

Who We Are Looking For

• An energetic and organized Wiring and Triage Engineer to lead the development and integration of electrical components.
• This Engineer will report to the Manager of Electrical Architecture and Power Distribution.
• Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex, requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills.

What You Get To Do

• Define 2D and schematics for the base vehicle and accessories, including wiring harnesses, control modules, lighting, and other components.
• Support designs using CAD software while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
• Work with various engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of electrical components.
• Lead problem solving with manufacturing, purchasing, and other stakeholders to support production and resolve issues.
• Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout.

What You Bring To The Team

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) program. Master's degree is preferred.
• 5 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical design and release.
• Hands on experience with schematic creation and device transmittals from suppliers.
• Hands on experience with Low Voltage (LV) components, such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
• Hands on experience with High Voltage (HV) components, such as DCDC converter, motor and inverter, battery, on-board charger, etc.
• Hands on experience with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols, including UDS based diagnostics.
• Experience using problem solving methodologies to diagnose complex issues, such as 8D, Five Whys, and Fishbone processes.
• Functional experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, etc.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
• Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to travel (up to 50%).
• Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
