This position supports and leads the development, integration, and maintenance of robust electronic components as they are used in the assembly, testing, and operation of automotive system modules. You will play a critical role in bringing next-generation automotive technology to life on the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
- System Development: Develop and support LabVIEW-based applications for both production and laboratory environments.
- Test Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain automated end-of-line (EOL) test stations for assembly lines, ensuring robust performance and integration with manufacturing systems.
- Diagnostics & Validation: Create and maintain diagnostic tools and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) applications to support product validation and troubleshooting.
- Collaboration & Design: Participate in design reviews with equipment suppliers, clearly communicating scope of work, technical specifications, and bill of materials (BOM) for test systems.
- Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
- Motor & Controller Testing: Work closely with Electrical Engineering to implement motor and controller testing requirements in both lab and production settings.
- Root Cause Analysis: Support Manufacturing and Quality teams in resolving plant build issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Data & Reporting: Deliver test data, interpret results, and develop reporting tools to support decision-making on the assembly line.
- Process Improvement: Update and maintain DFMEA / FTA related to test systems and diagnostics. Contribute to cost reduction initiatives by optimizing test processes and equipment.
- Global Support: Provide global support for automation projects, including remote troubleshooting and occasional international travel. Ensure implementation of software, hardware, and process guidelines to support global consistency.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a blend of education and experience with demonstrated capabilities.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a technical position within the automotive industry.
Core Competencies & Technical Skills
- Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in LabVIEW. Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Protocols: Experience with communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and UDS. Engineering Acumen: Strong requirement engineering, action management, timeline generation, and forecasting skills.
- Testing & Debugging: Capable of writing unit tests, integration tests, and using debugging tools.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and attention to detail for spotting bugs and edge cases in code.
