Job Description

About the Job:

Peak Energy is looking for an Electrical Test Engineer to join our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team and lead our testing and functional verification efforts for our energy storage systems, from batteries to power electronics. This role will work closely with design and simulation teams to understand needs, develop procedures, set up and run tests, and report on findings. Through testing, you will influence the design direction of the product. We are open to all levels and seek a self-starter who is eager to learn and maintains high standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and conduct comprehensive testing of functional, high voltage, and thermal systems within our energy storage systems.
2. Design, implement, and validate HIL test systems for real-time simulation and validation of our BMS.
3. Develop, execute, verify, and document test scripts, automation, and user interfaces for the HIL system.
4. Create and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and accuracy.
5. Develop test strategies, plans, and procedures for electrical and mechanical systems.
6. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design integrity and continuous improvement.
7. Analyze complex test data, report findings, and recommend system enhancements.
8. Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during testing.
9. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill development.
10. Innovate testing methodologies and practices.
11. Work closely with design, simulation, and manufacturing partners to inform design decisions.
12. Promote a culture of rapid prototyping and testing.
13. Maintain a positive team spirit and a can-do attitude, handling tasks of any size.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience testing high voltage systems, especially in power electronics or batteries.
• Deep knowledge of HV and thermal systems testing techniques.
• Experience interfacing with microcontrollers and scripting for functional testing.
• Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and technological innovation for positive environmental impact.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with high voltage batteries and power electronics.
• Experience with utility-scale energy storage systems.
• Experience developing hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems.

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000, with actual pay depending on location, experience, and skills.
