What To Expect
As an Electrical Test Engineer on the Test Systems Engineering Team at Tesla, you'll play a crucial role in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Our R&D Test Systems Engineering team is responsible for designing, building, and commissioning scalable test solutions that drive product development cycles forward. You'll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects across vehicle and energy programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to push the boundaries of what's possible.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and integrate end-to-end electrical hardware test solutions that drive product innovation.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software design teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
- Analyze data, generate reports, and communicate results to engineering teams, informing design releases and improvements.
- Investigate equipment failures, document findings, and drive test system improvements.
- Develop validation test plans, procedures, and reports, working closely with hardware and software design teams.
- Lead validation testing and system integration of new upgrades and solutions, creating electrical schematics, BOMs, harness drawings, and system diagrams as needed.
- Perform component, board, and system-level electrical, functional, and characterization measurements.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of professional experience or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on hardware design and testing experience in power electronics, low-power analog, and digital circuits.
- Experience with PCB layout, signal integrity, noise, and EMI considerations (Altium experience required).
- Familiarity with modeling and circuit simulation tools, such as MATLAB-Simulink and LTspice.
- Experience with embedded programming, digital communication protocols, and laboratory test equipment.
- Strong knowledge of dynos, motors, power systems, and switchgear components.
- Understanding of electrical safety requirements, including NEC, international installation codes, UL, and CE.

Expected Compensation: $80,000 - $174,000 per year + cash and stock awards + benefits.
