Job summary

Samuel Packaging Systems Group in Alabama is seeking an experienced Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, maintain and repair production machinery, read drawings and schematics, and ensure safe, high-performance equipment before production.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing, an Electrical certificate or degree preferred, strong English communication, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in maintenance or similar role.
• Electrical/Mechanical certificate preferred.
• Must communicate in English (written and spoken).
• Independent worker and team player.

• Good organizational skills and self-starter attitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs production machinery to ensure an effective maintenance system and achieve the highest performance of production equipment.
• Diagnoses problems and troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems for the production equipment.
• Fabricates and/or installs electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems.
• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications and schematics.
• Follows safety procedures and ensures equipment is safe before release to production.
• Performs simple fabrication of mechanical components for bracketry or device installation modification.
• Performs electrical preventative maintenance inspections and reports results.
• Works on special projects as required.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs production machinery to ensure an effective maintenance system and achieve the highest performance of production equipment.
• Diagnoses problems and troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems for the production equipment.
• Fabricates and/or installs electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications and schematics in order to effectively troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment.
• Understands safety precautions and follows all safety procedures when completing work. Ensures that all equipment is safe before releasing to production.
• Able to perform simple fabrication of mechanical components using maintenance equipment for bracketry or installation modification of electrical devices.
• Performs all electrical preventative maintenance related to inspections, record results and reports as per procedure.
• Work on special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Electrical/Mechanical Certificate preferred
• 5 + years experience
• Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.
• Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
• Must demonstrate patience and consistent attention to detail.
• Must have good organizational skills and be a self-starter.
• Ability to read blueprints, use precision instruments (Imperial and Metric).
• Ability to read and interpret Hydraulic and Pneumatic schematics.

Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED, active Electrical certificate or Electrical degree preferred.

Previous Experience in a Manufacturing or Automotive environment required.
