Job summary

Procopio's IP practice seeks an experienced Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its team, handling electrical, electronics, software and related technologies. You will draft and prosecute sophisticated U.S. patent applications and collaborate with inventors and in-house counsel.

Qualifications

• Substantive patent drafting and prosecution experience (4+ years).
• USPTO registration and bar admission in a U.S. state.
• Technical background in electrical engineering, electronics, CS or related fields.
• Strong patent drafting skills with the ability to understand complex technologies.
• Experience with §101 eligibility issues and responses.
• Experience with large tech portfolios and in-house counsel interaction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute sophisticated U.S. patent applications involving electrical, electronics, hardware, software, AI, and related technologies.
• Develop prosecution strategies for 101 eligibility issues, particularly for software, AI, and computer-implemented inventions.
• Work directly with inventors, engineers, and in-house counsel.
• Manage patent matters and portfolios with a high degree of independence.
• Conduct invention harvesting and develop portfolio and prosecution strategies.
• Coordinate international patent prosecution.
• Use AI-assisted patent tools and workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
