Job summary

Sterling Steel Company is seeking an Elect Tech to inspect electrical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and repair equipment throughout the plant to keep operations safe and cost-efficient.

The role requires 5+ years as maintenance electrician, ability to read drawings, and experience with PLCs; 12-hour shifts, PPE, and willingness to work in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years maintenance electrician related experience; preferably in similar heavy manufacturing setting or equivalent training and experience
• Knowledge of Crane signals
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers & Analog Circuits; Calibrations of flow; Temp & pressure transmitters; Communication protocols; Cabling & basic networking.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, and lubricate electrical equipment.
• Make temporary or permanent repairs to equipment such as main motor devices, generators, control panels, relays, interlocking cranes, and circuit breakers.
• Make mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes.
• Receive instructions for scheduled and emergency repair work.
• Inspect electrical/electronic equipment and power lines for wear and fit.
• Diagnose trouble using testing equipment and knowledge of electrical principles.
• Determine best repair approach to minimize production interruption.
• Advise when shutdown is necessary to minimize damage.
• Calibrate electrical measuring equipment.
• Interpret drawings and wiring diagrams to locate circuits and determine material needs.
• Markup drawings and deliver copies to Supervisor.
