Job summary

Buncombe County is seeking a skilled electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across county facilities and properties. This role emphasizes safe operation, blueprint reading, and adherence to building codes while performing heavy manual work.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 5+ years of experience, and an active NC Electrical License along with a valid driver's license. Training on HVAC controls and safety is provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; 5 years electrical install/maintenance exp, incl. pneumatic and electrical controls.
Active NC Electrical License and valid driver's license required.
Continuous training on HVAC equipment and safety training.

Responsibilities

Plan electrical installations to minimize waste and ensure future access and code compliance.
Repair or replace defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, switchboards, and panels.
Install control and distribution equipment such as relays and circuit breakers.
Pull and route low-voltage wiring in open-air plenums.
Procure materials or obtain bids/quotes per policy; coordinate with contractors.
Perform related duties as assigned.
