Buncombe County Government is seeking an Electrical Specialist to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across county facilities and properties.
The position requires a NC Electrical License, a high school diploma with five years of experience, plus strong knowledge of safety standards and blueprints. Heavy physical work and plan execution are common in this role.
Purpose of the position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for Buncombe County facilities and properties.
Minimum Education (required at time of hire): High School diploma or equivalent required; with a minimum of five (5) years progressively increasing experience in electrical installation and maintenance work, including pneumatic and electrical control work; or equivalent of education and experience. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
Additional Training and Experience: Continuous training and education on various equipment and controls within the HVAC industry. Completion of safety training.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Possession of an active N.C. Electrical License, valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily very heavy work requiring exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and//or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and involves the use of heavy equipment, machinery, and tools. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, kneeling lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
