Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is offering two Electrical Engineering Intern positions in the Electric System Integrity Department in Lansing, MI. This full-time summer internship runs May 17, 2027 to August 13, 2027, with a pay rate of $23.00 per hour and is designed to provide hands-on experience in system load flow planning, reliability studies, and substation and transmission projects.

Interns will learn from a mentor, collaborate with internal teams, and gain exposure to SAP,

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program with junior or senior status during Summer 2027.
• Must be enrolled in fall 2027 courses.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal departments on projects as assigned.
• Assist with distribution system planning studies and design tasks.
• Assist with transmission planning studies and system protection studies.
• Learn and apply SAP and standard office software.
• Follow BWL Safety Manual and wear PPE for field work.
• Attend required trainings and maintain attendance.
