Job summary

Red Cat is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Product Development & Integration team, delivering electrical architectures across air, ground, and maritime unmanned systems.

You will design power distribution, battery integration, harnessing, interface boards, sensors, onboard compute, and datalink hardware, coordinating with embedded, RF/datalink, autonomy, test, and manufacturing engineers for lab and field validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years designing or integrating electrical hardware for unmanned systems, robotics, aerospace, or defense.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, OrCAD).
• Experience with wire-harness design and electrical interface definition.
• Understanding of DC power systems, batteries, grounding and protection.
• Familiarity with CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, PWM, DShot.
• Hands-on troubleshooting, lab testing, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate electrical architecture; perform bench testing and rapid prototyping.
• Design electrical systems for UxS platforms: power distribution, battery integration, grounding, protection.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts; develop harness drawings and select connectors.
• Integrate electrical interfaces for payloads, sensors, and onboard computers on air, ground, and maritime platforms.
• Support field testing, troubleshoot issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Maintain electrical interface control documentation; support production transition.
