Job description

Build the future from circuit to code.

The best part of engineering is bringing something new to life—and making it work in the real world.

At ChromoLogic, you’ll take embedded products from an initial concept to a working prototype and through production readiness. You’ll shape the architecture, design custom electronics, write firmware, and get hands-on at the bench to bring it all together.

We’re looking for a builder: someone who enjoys moving between a schematic, a firmware debugger, and an oscilloscope—and finds satisfaction in solving the problems that connect them.

Why ChromoLogic?

ChromoLogic LLC is an innovation and R&D company developing technologies for medical, aerospace, and security applications. Our work brings together electronics, embedded software, optics, sensors, communications, and mechanical systems.

This isn’t a narrowly defined design-support role. You’ll have meaningful ownership of the systems you develop, collaborate across disciplines, and help shape technical decisions from the start. Your work won’t stop at a design review—you’ll see it become a physical, testable, manufacturable product.

What you’ll do
Own the design, from requirements to reality
  • Translate product requirements into practical system architectures and production-ready electronic designs
  • Create schematics and multilayer PCB layouts using Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or comparable EDA tools
  • Select components with performance, availability, reliability, manufacturability, board space, and cost in mind
  • Work closely with software, mechanical, optical, manufacturing, and product teams to make sound system-level tradeoffs
Build the firmware that makes it work
  • Develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++
  • Implement bare-metal or RTOS-based architectures suited to the product’s timing, reliability, and resource requirements
  • Work with microcontroller platforms such as ARM Cortex/STM32, AVR, PIC, or similar devices
  • Integrate and validate interfaces such as BLE, CAN, SPI, I²C, UART, and USB
Bring hardware to life at the bench
  • Assemble and modify prototypes through SMD soldering, fine-pitch rework, wiring, cable crimping, and enclosure integration
  • Lead board bring-up and troubleshoot interactions between hardware, firmware, sensors, power, and communications
  • Use JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab equipment to investigate failures and verify performance
  • Develop test procedures and validate designs under real operating conditions
Help turn prototypes into reliable products
  • Create clear design documentation, firmware documentation, test procedures, and manufacturing packages
  • Support prototype builds, design verification, supplier coordination, and production ramp
  • Investigate field issues and turn what you learn into better designs
What you’ll bring
  • A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience spanning embedded hardware, firmware, PCB design, and prototype development
  • Experience designing microcontroller-based electronics and writing C/C++ for resource-constrained systems
  • Practical PCB design skills, including stack-up planning, grounding, mixed-signal or high-speed layout, power integrity, EMC considerations, and design for manufacturing
  • Confidence working at the bench: assembling prototypes, making modifications, probing signals, and methodically isolating problems
  • The ability to explain technical decisions clearly and collaborate across engineering disciplines

You don’t need experience with every microcontroller, interface, or EDA tool listed here. We’re most interested in strong fundamentals, demonstrated project ownership, and the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and get them working.

You’ll enjoy this role if…
  • You like understanding the whole system—not just your piece of it
  • You’re equally comfortable writing firmware, routing a board, and picking up a soldering iron
  • You enjoy fast prototype iterations while keeping reliability and manufacturability in view
  • You approach intermittent failures with curiosity, patience, and a structured troubleshooting process
  • You want your engineering decisions to have a direct, visible effect on the finished product
What makes this opportunity different
  • End-to-end ownership: Follow your work from initial requirements through hardware, firmware, validation, and manufacturing support
  • Cross-disciplinary challenges: Solve problems at the intersection of electronics, software, optics, sensors, and physical integration
  • Room to experiment: Prototype quickly, test ideas, and help define the technical direction
  • Tangible results: Build systems you can hold, measure, improve, and see put to use
