This position will be filled at either Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 or 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division (PFE-DO) and Confinement Ventilation Systems (PFE-CV) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are seeking an Electrical System Engineer. Current registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) is highly desirable.
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years practical work experience to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Candidates that meet the degree requirement but do not meet the two‑year experience requirement may be considered for hire through an allowable variance.

This position may require 24/7 coverage, which could involve working a shift or weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay. Shift or weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.
Work in a noisy environment near sources of ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation, near machinery with moving parts, overtime or an irregular schedule.

Position requires Q clearance. Selected applicants must be U.S. citizens, unless in extremely rare circumstances. Additional authorization for classified information may be required depending on the position.
This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 CFR Part 712.
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and adheres to a substance abuse policy including random drug testing. Use or possession of marijuana remains illegal under federal law. A positive test will result in termination of employment.
Term status. Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status.
