Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Design Engineer in Cedar City, UT, to design and document low to medium voltage switchgear and power distribution systems. You will ensure compliance with IEC, ANSI, UL, and IEEE standards while collaborating with mechanical, project management, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, 3+ years in switchgear design, and proficiency with AutoCAD and E-Plan.

Qualifications

BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis in electrical systems.
Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in switchgear or power distribution design.
Experience with AutoCAD and E-Plan required; proficiency in MS Office.
Familiarity with low to medium voltage systems (up to 38 kV) and electrical protection concepts.
Strong ability to read contracts, specs, drawings, procedures and manuals.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and document low to medium voltage switchgear and power distribution systems.
Ensure compliance with IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE and customer requirements.
Create engineering drawings including one-line diagrams, schematics, elevations and plans.
Select and specify breakers, relays, CTs/PTs, bus bars and protective devices.
Prepare CAD drawings and maintain project documentation for stakeholders.
Collaborate with mechanical design, project management and manufacturing teams.
Review customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post‑shipment phases.
