JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Leads all aspects of the company's safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed.
- Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
- Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.
- Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinates and manages the care, custody, and control of the project site.
- Leads various meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings.
- Attends, manages, and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.
- Creates, manages, and adjusts the project's schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- May be responsible for tracking and monitoring project budget and costs using the project management system's reports and data from the project manager.
- Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
- Follows the project filing and documentation system, updating drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
- Approves and/or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily, logs, and tracking reports.
- Evaluates progress on self-perform work and makes adjustments as needed.
- Manages material and equipment needs for the project.
- Supports procurement and approval processes.
- Assists in the selection of formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for self-perform operations.
- Manages timecard approval process to ensure accurate reporting of hours and proper cost codes.
- Ensures quality compliance through specifications, quality standards, in-house QA/QC, and outside resources.
- Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with the owner, architect, and authorities.
- Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
- Participates with field leadership to develop and implement project pre-plans, monitoring and adjusting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partners with field leadership to establish staffing.
- Partners with project management to identify schedule and costs for project changes.
- Participates in negotiations with the owner and architect for project changes.
- Prepares and presents for project review meetings.
- Participates in buyout meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understands and applies contractual terms and conditions.
- Identifies and recruits top talent.
- Promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring policy implementation.
Additional Responsibilities - Superintendent 2
- Manages complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.
- Handles management, scheduling, safety, and quality for their project or portion.
- Identifies and manages project risks.
- Uses knowledge to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Manages deliverables from internal resources.
- Participates in project pursuits and negotiations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately and timely.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
- Understanding of construction management fundamentals.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years construction experience, with 3+ years in supervision.
- Experience with Lean principles preferred.
Working Environment
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Travel and/or relocation may be required.
- Exposure to extreme conditions possible.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
