Job description

Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Superintendent for our Beaumont, Mississippi plywood facility. This greenfield site will employ up to 250 employees. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will oversee the electrical department, ensuring all electrical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Hood Industries, Inc. is a combination of wood manufacturing and distribution businesses, including plywood and lumber plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations across eighteen states in the northeast, southeast, and southwest U.S.

This position manages the electrical staff, diagnoses equipment failures, oversees repairs, and coordinates preventative and predictive maintenance, installations, and modifications to ensure all electrical equipment is maintained in safe, optimal condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and contractors by supporting safety programs, developing SOPs, identifying hazards, and enforcing safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and programs within the area of responsibility.
  • Supervise electricians and electrical department personnel.
  • Develop staff skills for personal and professional growth.
  • Schedule and assign tasks for preventative and predictive electrical maintenance.
  • Manage inventory of spares, engage with suppliers to optimize costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, vendors, and regulatory agencies to meet goals.
  • Maintain all electrical compliance documentation.
  • Design and develop new installations, including power, motor control, instrumentation, and software programming (PLCs, HMIs).
  • Perform duties following safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 5+ years of electrical experience and 3+ years of management experience; associate’s degree or vocational certification required; BS or EE degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant electrical equipment, operations, and maintenance systems.
  • Understanding of safety, health, and environmental laws and standards.
  • Proficiency with PLCs, control logic troubleshooting, HMI systems, data communication, and instrumentation.
  • Strong communication and math skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and manage teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of medium/high voltage systems, IT systems, and networking.
  • Basic budgeting and financial skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Salary Range: $91,812 - $111,288
