Job summary

LCRA Transmission Services Corporation seeks an Engineering Associate II to develop detailed design scopes for electrical substation projects and support interconnection of new load and generation facilities on the ERCOT grid.

The role requires understanding of power systems, adherence to codes, and travel to substations and power plants as needed. Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year experience are expected; driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science.
• One or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
• Driver's license

Responsibilities

• Develops detailed design preliminary engineering scopes for electrical substation projects to improve the existing electric grid and/ or facilitate the interconnection of new load and generation facilities.
• Investigates and analyzes problems and develops appropriate solutions working along with multiple subject matter experts and senior staff. Drafts reports. Receives assistance on unusual or complex features.
• Coordinates project scope reviews between individuals and other subject areas. Ensures timely communication occurs. Develops and conducts presentations to management and others.
• Maintains knowledge of engineering principles. Keeps informed of technical developments, industry codes, and safety and/or regulatory requirements which have impact upon the respective engineering subject areas. Fully develop knowledge of LCRA procedures, equipment, and systems.
• Gathers engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as necessary.
• Recommends new and improved practices and procedures related to assigned area.
