Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Electrical Staff Engineer to support interconnection and design of EV charging facilities and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities.

The role includes site layout, equipment sizing, interconnection requirements, and coordinating with project teams to maintain firm standards. The engineer will perform electrical design, construction documents, and electrical calculations while guiding interns and drafters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering program.
• Knowledge of NEC requirements.
• Knowledge and proficiency in the use of an electrical power system modeling program(s).
• Approximately 2–6 years of experience in design of electrical distribution, generation, and/or general electrical construction.
• Ability to read and create service/interconnection application packages, construction drawings and specification packages.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical engineering portions of EV charging facilities and energy storage projects.
• Review utility service/interconnection requirements for various utilities and assemble technical portions of service/interconnect applications for clients.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyors.
• Perform electrical design and creation of construction documents for projects.
• Conduct electrical calculations and studies such as short circuit, load flow, and voltage drop.
• Maintain awareness of current equipment and best practices.
• Collaborate with electrical teams in other offices as workload requires.
