Electrical Specialist

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for electrical systems across multiple facilities.
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical distribution equipment, including substations, breakers, switchgear, MCCs, protective relays, transformers (up to 138kV), battery/UPS systems, motors (up to 45,000 hp / 15,000 volts), and backup generators (up to 1500kW).
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including IR thermography, transformer oil analysis, partial discharge analysis, and power quality analysis.
• Analyze equipment performance data to ensure optimal reliability and efficiency.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and resolve chronic electrical equipment issues (bad actors).
• Assist with turnaround planning, scope development, and cost estimation for electrical work.
• Provide technical direction to plant personnel and contractors to ensure safe and effective execution of work.
• Work independently to make technical decisions and provide field recommendations.
• Support resolution of high-impact issues with a focus on safety, reliability, and performance.
• Provide off-hours support and maintain availability as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of more than five (5+) years of experience maintaining medium voltage (5 kV to 15 kV) electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment.
• Experience in installation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices for electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and support or lead team-based activities.
• Experience managing multiple tasks and delivering results with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with computers and standard software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, email systems; Infor Enterprise Asset Management).

• Ability to perform a combination of field and office work with up to 50% domestic travel.
