Job summary

ColonialWebb seeks an experienced Safety Technician to coach safety best practices, conduct site assessments, and ensure working conditions are safe for our employees. Safety is the highest priority, and you will teach and enforce procedures across sites.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2+ years of safety experience required (preferably in a construction setting).
  • OSHA 30 certification- required.
  • Construction Site Safety Technician Certification (CSST) or CHST a plus.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Virginia OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of NFPA Standards applicable to work operations.
  • Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the employees and management of the site in enforcing safety procedures to ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Coordinate site tasks to be performed safely according to policies and procedures.
  • Sustain safe operations by conducting site visits and observing employee work practices.
  • Identify corrective actions to bring job sites into compliance and explain them to others.
  • Inspect safety equipment and first aid supplies for readiness.
  • Assist with reporting and investigating workers' compensation and liability claims.

A Day In The Life
  • Assist the employees and management of the site in the enforcement of the safety procedures within the Safety and Risk Program to ensure state and federal OSHA compliance in the field and reduce the risk of employee injury
  • Coordinate all tasks and functions on site to ensure they are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures and OSHA standards
  • Sustain safe operations by conducting site visits/inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment; observing and documentation employee work practices and improving safety preparedness
  • Identify corrective actions necessary to bring job sites into compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to others
  • Inspect the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies
  • Recommend and follow up to verify the implementation of corrective actions
  • Identify and recommend safety equipment, material and supplies for work operations
  • Assist in reporting and investigating workers compensation and general liability claims on job sites; act as a liaison with workers’ compensation issues
  • Conduct and/or assist with job hazard analysis
You Should Have
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • 2 or more years of safety experience required (preferably in a construction setting but not required)
  • OSHA 30 certification- required
  • Construction Site Safety Technician Certification (CSST) or Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) is a plus
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required
  • Ability to learn and enforce current corporate policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce current Federal and Virginia Occupational Safety & Health regulations
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce current NFPA Standards applicable to work operations
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce the current US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program
  • Bilingual and train, the trainer certifications are a plus but not required
