Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Full-Time Safety Coordinator to support our service business in the Maryland area. The role focuses on coaching safety practices, enforcing OSHA-compliant procedures, and coordinating site safety tasks to keep operations safe and compliant.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3+ years in safety (construction preferred), and OSHA/BCSP credentials. The position offers a strong benefits package and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three or more years’ experience in the safety field, preferably in a construction setting.
• OSHA 511 or 510, preferred OSHA 500 or 501.
• First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification is a plus.
• BCSP certification (CHST, OHST, ASP or CSP) also a plus.
• Knowledge of Federal and state Occupational Safety & Health regulations.
• Knowledge of NFPA Standards applicable to work operations and US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program.
• Knowledge of construction safety equipment and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coach and teach safety best practices and behaviors that prevent injury.
• Assist employees and management of the site in enforcing safety procedures to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate all site tasks to ensure they are performed safely per policies and OSHA standards.
• Conduct site visits/inspections to observe practices and improve safety preparedness.
• Identify corrective actions to bring job sites into compliance with codes, laws, and standards.
• Inspect safety equipment, PPE, and first aid supplies for readiness.
• Assist in reporting and investigating workers' compensation and general liability claims.
• Perform job hazard analysis with supervisors and crews.

A Day In The Life

• Coach and teach safety best practices and behaviors that prevent injury
• Assist employees and management of the site in the enforcement of safety procedures within the Safety and Risk Program to ensure state and federal OSHA compliance
• Coordinate all tasks and functions on site to ensure they are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures and OSHA standards
• Sustain safe operations by conducting site visits/inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment; observing and documenting employee work practices and improving safety preparedness
• Identify corrective actions necessary to bring job sites into compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to others
• Inspect availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies
• Recommend and follow up to verify the implementation of corrective actions
• Identify and recommend safety equipment, material and supplies for work operations
• Assist in reporting and investigating workers compensation and general liability claims on job sites; act as a liaison with workers’ compensation issues
• Conduct and/or assist with job hazard analysis

You Should Have

• Ability and willingness to travel to multiple jobs and customer sites
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three or more years’ experience in the safety field, preferably in a construction setting
• OSHA 511 or 510, preferred OSHA 500 or 501
• First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification is a plus
• BCSP certification (CHST, OHST, ASP or CSP) also a plus
• Structure and content of the English language. Spanish language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar is a plus
• Ability to learn and enforce current corporate policies and procedures
• Knowledge of and ability to enforce Federal and state Occupational Safety & Health regulations
• Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce current NFPA Standards applicable to work operations and US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program
• Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce safe operations of construction equipment (train the trainer certifications are a plus)
• Knowledge of various computer software programs, applications, and ability to use them efficiently
