Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks a Manager, Environmental Safety & Health to lead the Electrical Safety Program. You will serve as the Electrical Safety Officer, chair LESAC, and guide safety practices across the Lab, supervising three staff members.

The role requires a strong background in electrical safety standards, program development, training, and policy implementation. This is a fully onsite role at BNL in Upton, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in the job offered, or fifteen (15) years of progressive experience managing engineering, safety and health, or related technical area responsibilities.
• Knowledge of external electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and the electrical provisions of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the Electrical Safety Subject Area and related program documents.
• Review updates to electrical codes, standards, and federal requirements; communicate requirements to staff.
• Serve as the Laboratory Electrical Safety Officer and SHSD Subject Matter Expert for electrical safety matters.
• Lead, supervise, coach, and mentor Electrical Safety Group staff in support of Laboratory electrical safety work practices.
• Chair the Laboratory Electrical Safety Advisory Committee and communicate program requirements and recommendations.
