Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an experienced Deputy Electrical Safety Officer to support the Laboratory's Electrical Safety Program, oversight, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Electrical Safety Officer, this role serves as a technical leader responsible for safety program execution, code compliance, equipment safety evaluations, and LOTO oversight across a world-class research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or related technical discipline with five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education, training, certifications, and ten years' progressive electrical safety experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience involving electrical systems, electrical safety, code compliance, inspections, or construction.
• Experience with electrical safety programs, electrical hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and electrical code compliance.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA/Cal/OSHA, and DOE electrical safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and advance the Laboratory's Electrical Safety Program and associated policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
• Provide technical consultation on electrical installations, energized work, LOTO activities, and hazard assessments.
• Review complex work plans, permits, and analyses for electrical safety implications.
• Perform field assessments and readiness activities across facilities, experimental systems, and research equipment.
• Develop training programs and support qualifications for electrical workers and inspectors.
• Collaborate with Facilities & Operations, Engineering, and ESH to ensure safety and compliance.
