Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a highly experienced Deputy Electrical Safety Officer to lead and oversee the Laboratory's Electrical Safety Program, ensuring compliance with NFPA 70/70E, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and DOE requirements.

You will collaborate with Facilities & Operations, Engineering, and other divisions to implement safety policies, inspect electrical installations, and provide training and guidance across conventional facilities, experimental systems, and research equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and five years of relevant electrical safety experience; or ten years of progressively responsible experience in electrical safety.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience involving electrical safety, code compliance, inspections, and related activities.
• Demonstrated experience with electrical safety programs, hazard analyses, lockout/tagout, and electrical code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of the Laboratory's Electrical Safety Program.
• Provide technical guidance on NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and DOE requirements.
• Review electrical installations, energized work, LOTO activities, and hazard analyses.
• Conduct field assessments, inspections, and readiness reviews involving electrical systems.
