Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park seeks a Deputy Associate Lab Director for Operations (DALD/Ops) to lead disciplined operations for SSRL. You will set strategy, partner with DOE, Stanford and other labs, and oversee directorate-wide programs while representing SSRL on key SLAC committees.

The role requires a strong track record in operational leadership at large research facilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in science or engineering with leadership at a >$10M scale research organization.
• Proven strategy crafting across operational and engineering disciplines.
• 10+ years fostering innovation while delivering to sponsors and projects.
• Experience in quality, safety and customer service.
• Ability to negotiate outcomes and manage stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication with internal and external partners.
• Ability to interact with senior management and represent SLAC effectively.
• Action-oriented, persistent and able to drive results within cost and safety constraints.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, management and strategic vision for disciplined operations in SSRL Directorate.
• Lead implementation of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Project Management policies.
• Represent SSRL on SLAC Operations and PS- Infrastructure committees and councils.
• Provide strategic leadership over SSRL work planning for projects and maintenance.
• Lead facility planning to ensure space for effective operations.
• Provide strategic emergency response planning for events and incidents.
• Instill SLAC values and safety into the directorate's culture.
• Contribute to directorate strategic planning and alignment with SLAC goals.
• Partner with Stanford, DOE and other labs to implement best practices.
• Represent SLAC in DOE and Stanford activities and chair/participate on committees.
