Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Deputy Electrical Safety Officer to lead the Laboratory's Electrical Safety Program and ensure code compliance across facilities and research systems. The role reports to the Electrical Safety Officer and acts as back-up during absences, guiding hazard analyses, training, and safety improvements.

The position emphasizes collaboration with Facilities, Engineering, Research Divisions, and ESH to maintain mission-critical safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with progressive electrical safety experience.
• Demonstrated experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA/Cal/OSHA, and DOE requirements.
• Experience leading electrical safety programs, hazard analyses, and LOTO practices.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills in a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the Electrical Safety Program and policy development.
• Provide technical guidance on electrical code compliance and safety standards.
• Review engineering plans, hazard analyses, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Conduct field assessments, inspections, and equipment safety reviews.
• Deliver electrical safety training and support incident investigations.
• Coordinate with Facilities, Engineering, and ESH to improve safety performance.
