Position Responsibilities of the Electrical Project Manager:
- Initiate, attend, coordinate, and conduct meetings as directed by the VP of Operations
- Manage schedules, project progress, shop drawings, and material deliveries with supervisors, trade contractors, and suppliers
- Monitor project performance to ensure completion within schedules, budgets, and quality standards
- Assist employees in resolving obstacles to meet project deadlines
- Coordinate personnel and scheduling with Project Coordinators
- Assist in billing, invoice approval, and review of project costs and reports
- Report weekly project progress to the VP of Operations
- Review blueprints and project documents for management planning
- Conduct project estimating to ensure projects are attainable within quotes and timelines
- Oversee subcontractors and monitor performance for compliance
- Participate in employee performance reviews
- Foster cooperative relationships with team members and clients
- Understand scope of work for all trades at the site
- Perform routine inspections to verify scope, standards, and code compliance
- Maintain knowledge of building construction and electrical formulas
- Plan tasks to meet deadlines
- Document project situations accurately and timely
- Follow NEC, state, and local codes
- Adapt management style as needed for work plan changes
- Maintain knowledge of related systems and enforce OSHA requirements
- Ensure safe work practices and report incidents promptly
- Inspect subcontractor performance
- Assist in project closeouts and record drawings
- Build and maintain client relationships for business development
- Utilize estimating software for change orders and estimates
- Participate in ongoing training
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years experience in commercial/residential electrical field managing projects
- Experience in new construction
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of multi-family projects and fire alarm systems a plus
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift as needed
- Communication skills in English, including hearing ability
- Use of arms and hands for signaling, grabbing, and handling objects
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders, and work off platforms with fall protection
- Work in various weather conditions with appropriate PPE
- Wear PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, vests, gloves, and safety boots
- Good vision and depth perception
