Job summary

GFT is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Building and Places Team in Raleigh, Charlotte, or Mechanicsburg. This hybrid role requires regular office attendance and involves designing electrical systems for diverse facilities with a focus on energy efficiency and reliability.

The candidate will lead design efforts, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA and energy codes while driving project success and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in electrical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in electrical design for building systems.
• PE license preferred or able to obtain within two years.
• Proficient with NEC, NFPA codes, energy codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical design, inspection, and condition assessment for public sector facilities.
• Prepare electrical design criteria documents, drawings, calculations, and specs.
• Review electrical shop drawings and support contractors in the field.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, utility reps, and project teams.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget and quality standards.
• Develop reports and design documents including load calculations and short circuit studies.
