B&I Contractors, Inc. in Florida is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the Project Manager in managing commercial mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects.

The role provides growth toward PM, interface with clients, subcontractors and vendors, and ensures work aligns with design, budget and schedule. Strong degree and MS Office proficiency required; employee-owned with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in construction management/engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; perform physical labor per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager with managing commercial mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects and prepare for PM role.
• Ensure construction aligns with design specs, budget and schedule.
• Interface with client representatives, subcontractors, vendors, and project team.
• Review, submit submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, subcontracts, O&M manuals, etc.
• Provide field support to keep project expeditiously moving.
• Assist PM with change orders and extra work estimates.
• Assist PM with equipment releases and tracking.
• Support project meetings and maintain documentation.
• Act as liaison between trades and other departments.
• Address punch list items promptly.
• Conduct site visits to monitor productivity and material/equipment use.
• Gain industry knowledge and provide technical assistance as required.
• Participate in weekly staff and project management meetings.
• Perform other tasks as directed by PM and Regional Manager.
