Job summary

PPG in Delaware, Ohio seeks an Electrical Control Engineer to provide technical leadership for design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of process control and safety systems supporting chemical and specialty materials production.

You will partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve reliability, yield, and efficiency, owning instrumentation and automation projects from design through startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Controls, Automation, or related field preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or chemical process environment.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and VFDs.
• Experience working with process instrumentation in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to 24/7 manufacturing operations related to process control systems, safety systems, instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system, instrumentation, and automation issues using data analysis.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities related to control systems, electrical systems, and automation.
• Support production and maintenance teams in yield improvement, efficiency optimization, and reliability projects.
• Lead installation, commissioning, and startup of instrumentation and automation projects, including capital projects, within budget and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, site procedures, and regulatory requirements related to electrical and control systems.
