Job summary

Southland Industries, a leading MEP firm in Texas, seeks a preconstruction leader to manage the full preconstruction cycle from award to construction, interfacing with clients, design teams, and the budget while developing proposals, estimates, and win strategies.

You will lead the project team, implement unified workflows, mentor future leads, and present bids to Project Executives and Managers, ensuring profitability and high-quality execution.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to proactively plan projects and manage budgets.
• Ability to lead preconstruction activities on a major project.
• Ability to perform value engineering analyses.
• Deep understanding of engineering systems at a level higher than PE/PM.
• Strong communication with all management levels.
• Capacity to present proposals and sales pitches.
• Solid knowledge of building HVAC mechanical systems.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Working knowledge of design, internet, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software.
• Working knowledge of BIM software; Autodesk capabilities, NavisWorks, CAD MEP+.
• Problem solving, client service, and ability to gather/analyze information for solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to speak to groups.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Leadership to manage teams and delegate tasks.
• Sound decision-making with profitability orientation.
• Knowledge of market, competition, and budgeting within approved limits.

Responsibilities

• Manage the preconstruction effort from award to construction.
• Interface with client and design team; manage unified workflow and budget.
• Assist in development of proposals, estimates, and win strategies.
• Develop new client base for the division through interactions.
• Serve as main point of contact during preconstruction phase.
• Develop engineering plan with project Engineering Lead.
• Present bids and explain project to executives/managers.
• Mentor future preconstruction leaders within the division.
• Ensure continuous improvement of preconstruction, engineering, and BIM execution.
