Job summary

Williams Electric & HVAC is seeking an Electrical Preconstruction Manager to lead our estimating and preconstruction team while remaining hands-on with electrical estimates. You will work directly with leadership to evaluate opportunities, develop budgets, establish bid priorities, and prepare complete proposals.

You will manage estimators and junior estimators, review their work, develop their skills, and guide projects from scope review through award and turnover to operations.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience with an electrical contractor.
• Proven ability to prepare complete estimates for multimillion-dollar electrical projects.
• Experience leading an estimating team, reviewing work, and developing junior estimators.
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, construction methods, labor requirements, and NEC requirements.
• Proficiency with Trimble Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or comparable estimating software.
• Ability to evaluate costs, identify scope and pricing risks, and prepare clear proposals.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and team priorities while personally estimating projects.
• Strong communication, organization, judgment, and deadline-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical estimating and preconstruction from initial opportunity review through award and turnover.
• Prepare complete estimates, including takeoffs, labor, material, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and indirect costs using Trimble Accubid Anywhere.
• Develop conceptual and preliminary budgets with clear documentation of assumptions, allowances, and scope.
• Manage estimators and junior estimators by assigning bids, balancing workloads, setting deadlines, and reviewing estimates and proposals.
• Train and mentor team members while maintaining a hands-on estimating workload.
• Review drawings, specs, and addenda to identify scope gaps, design conflicts, constructability concerns, and pricing risks.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Coordinate with general contractors, owners, and design teams on scope, budgets, and value-engineering alternatives.
• Lead final estimate reviews and recommend pursuit and pricing strategies to leadership.
• Prepare proposals, alternates, scope summaries, clarifications, and exclusions.
• Coordinate with project managers and field personnel to validate installation approaches, labor assumptions, schedules, and procurement needs.
• Lead turnover meetings and improve estimating standards, databases, labor units, and assemblies using feedback from operations.
