Job summary

Kimmel Associates is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the company’s preconstruction operation, from initial client engagement through estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and project handoff.

The role oversees a team of five estimators and partners with clients, project teams, and leadership to drive successful pursuits on large commercial projects. Accubid proficiency is a plus and a strong leadership track record is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical estimating, preconstruction, or project management experience.
• Experience with large-scale commercial electrical construction projects.
• Proven leadership in developing estimating or preconstruction professionals.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction costs, budgets, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full preconstruction process from client engagement through project award.
• Oversee estimating, budgeting, bid strategy, and value engineering.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of five estimators.
• Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
• Partner with clients, general contractors, and internal teams throughout the pursuit process.
• Develop and implement effective preconstruction strategies for large commercial projects.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization.
• Support project turnover and ensure smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
• Help establish and improve estimating and preconstruction processes.
