Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Dulles, VA is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Level 1 for the Space Sector. This 100% onsite role supports design, testing, and operation of power generation, storage, and distribution systems for space vehicles, including Li-ion batteries and solar arrays.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree with foundational electrical engineering skills, strong communication, and readiness for night/weekend shifts and travel. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 months of professional experience.
• Solid background and understanding of electrical engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self starter able to drive items through to closure on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical, cost and schedule performance of the space vehicle electrical power subsystem.
• Analyze and architect spacecraft power avionics, batteries and solar arrays.
• Prepare analyses for design reviews and customer meetings.
• Provide subcontractor technical and project management oversight.
• Support development and testing in Integration & Test.
• Assist mission operations post-launch activities.
• Perform voltage drop, energy balance, fuse sizing, and transient analyses.
• Generate and decompose subsystem requirements and manage them.
• Analyze on-ground failures and in-orbit anomalies; support earned value reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.
