Job summary

Nexamp is seeking an Electrical Performance Engineer to join our hybrid offices in Lawrence, MA; Boston, MA; New York, NY; or Chicago, IL. You will be a deep technical independent contributor responsible for improving reliability and performance of Nexamp’s solar PV and BESS assets, applying advanced electrical engineering analysis in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 2+ years in solar and protection relays.
• Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering preferred.

• Ability to analyze data and identify root causes.

Responsibilities

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy with settings across OCPDs, relays, inverters and plant controllers; manage setting changes with third‑party vendors; secure utility approvals.
• Engage with utilities on grid‑interaction issues related to protection schemes, relay settings, and plant control behavior; diagnose misalignment and negotiate solutions.
• Improve system reliability by evaluating protection schemes, breaker coordination, relay timing, and inverter control functions.
• Partner with Engineering to improve design standards and fleet consistency; update relay database templates and protection philosophies.
• Lead data‑driven reliability and loss reduction by analyzing inverter logs, relay events, EMS data; conduct root‑cause investigations and recommend actions.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics strategy to reduce false positives and accelerate incident response.
• Develop analytical models and performance standards for Nexamp’s PV and BESS fleet, integrating power systems engineering with data analytics.
• Influence decisions and mentor junior analysts through training and best practices.
