Job summary

MP Materials is seeking an Electrical Operations Engineer to manage electrical OPEX projects at our new metal, alloy, and magnet facility, driving cost efficiency and reliability.

You will serve as on-site expert for electrical infrastructure, collaborating with maintenance, operations, engineering, and capital projects while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead troubleshooting, maintenance planning, root-cause analyses, and KPI reporting to optimize downtime and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering focused on efficiency, cost reduction, or process improvement.
• Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation for manufacturing.
• Experience managing OPEX or CI projects with measurable savings.
• Proficiency in MS Office and electrical design/analysis software (AutoCAD Electrical, SKM).
• Ability to analyze data and electrical performance to identify expense reduction opportunities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site technical expert for electrical infrastructure systems and equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering and capital project teams.
• Ensure safety protocols, inspections, and safety-first culture in maintenance operations.
• Plan resources and approve procedures for electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance.
• Perform routine inspections and hands-on troubleshooting of electrical/mechanical systems.
• Plan and oversee maintenance projects, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead or participate in root-cause analyses of electrical failures.
• Identify strategies to improve reliability and maintenance efficiency, including RCM.
• Deliver training on electrical systems and procedures to engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Maintain records and generate KPIs, downtime analyses, and budget tracking.
