Job summary

Element Resources is seeking a Manager, Maintenance Projects to lead technical maintenance initiatives across multiple sites in the region. You will drive equipment reliability, oversee major repairs, and mentor maintenance staff while coordinating with Engineering and Production to meet reliability goals.

The role requires hands-on floor work about 50% of the time, regional travel (~25%), and leadership responsibilities for capital and maintenance projects.

Qualifications

  • Extensive industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Qualified industrial electrician.
  • Strong welding and fabrication background.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify practical solutions to equipment problems.
  • Ability to plan and manage technical projects.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or potential to develop into a management position.
  • Previous management experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify recurring equipment problems and develop permanent corrective solutions.
  • Lead or participate in root-cause analysis of significant equipment failures.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend reliability improvements.
  • Assist in developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Review maintenance history to identify repetitive failures and improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to improve equipment availability and maintainability.
  • Recommend equipment modifications, replacements, and upgrades when appropriate.
  • Serve as a technical resource for difficult or unusual maintenance problems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting motors, VFDs, MCCs, instrumentation, controls, and other industrial electrical systems.
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment in coordination with Engineering or Controls personnel.
  • Review electrical and mechanical drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in determining repair methods and appropriate replacement components.
  • Develop practical solutions for equipment modifications and plant improvements.
  • Provide technical direction for welding and fabrication projects.
  • Assist with field measurements, layouts, equipment modifications, structural repairs, guarding, platforms, chutes, ductwork, and other plant fabrication projects.
  • Determine when work can effectively be completed internally versus requiring outside engineering, fabrication, or contractor support.
  • Help establish fabrication and repair standards that improve equipment reliability and safety.
  • Manage selected maintenance and plant improvement projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop scopes of work and obtain contractor or vendor proposals.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  • Review proposed equipment and repair solutions.
  • Assist with project cost estimates and budgets.
  • Coordinate installation and commissioning activities.
  • Verify completed work meets plant expectations and applicable standards.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate project status to plant leadership.
  • Help develop equipment standards and preferred components for the facility.
  • Improve maintenance documentation, drawings, equipment records, and troubleshooting information.
  • Assist with development of critical spare-parts lists.
  • Help improve preventive maintenance procedures and inspection standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce emergency repairs.
  • Support development of equipment specifications for new installations and replacements.
  • Serve as a technical mentor for maintenance personnel.
  • Help develop electrical, troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and mechanical skills within the maintenance department.
  • Provide technical training when appropriate.
  • Help identify skill gaps and recommend training or development opportunities.
  • Encourage technicians to troubleshoot problems systematically rather than relying on temporary repairs.
