Job summary

The City of Muskogee in Oklahoma is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Inspector to ensure compliance with municipal, state, and national electrical and mechanical codes. The role requires inspecting installations, interpreting codes, and coordinating with contractors to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3+ years of experience, and be eligible for Oklahoma certification within a year.

Qualifications

• HS diploma and 3+ years of practical experience or equivalent
• Must hold Oklahoma certification or obtain within 1 year
• Good knowledge of municipal, state and national electrical and mechanical codes
• Ability to diagnose defects, enforce regulations with firmness and tact
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and codes

Responsibilities

• Inspect new wiring and installations in residences, businesses, and public buildings for compliance with safety regulations
• Interpret municipal, national, and international codes
• Consult with contractors on problems encountered
• Issue final inspections and registrations for electrical/mechanical work
• Research and respond to information on codes and regulations
• Prepare reports on violations and enforcement actions
• Work outdoors in varying weather and driving to properties within city
• Perform other duties as assigned
