Job summary

Based in West Columbia, SC, this position is available as a contract-to-hire opportunity with significant potential for professional advancement. You will work the 2nd shift, scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, and Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at a rate of $18 per hour. The primary objective is to execute various mechanical and electrical installations, assembly tasks, and product inspections on the production line. Success in this role depends on your capacity to interpret technical schematics, adhere to precise assembly guidelines, and maintain rigorous quality and safety benchmarks, while also supporting minor repairs and production troubleshooting.

Core Responsibilities

• Utilize various power tools, hand tools, and specialized machinery to construct electrical and mechanical systems.
• Use fixtures, jigs, and holding devices to precisely position, align, and secure components.
• Execute mechanical assembly duties such as riveting, bolting, screwing, fastening, and press-fitting parts to ensure structural integrity.
• Perform electrical assembly tasks including cable routing, wiring, crimping, and component connection to maintain system functionality.
• Install modules, subassemblies, and various components into panels, racks, or enclosures.
• Mount and link electrical parts like circuit boards, relays, switches, and connectors.
• Complete cable termination, wiring, and soldering tasks as necessary.
• Carry out intermediate production steps such as bonding, sealing, cleaning, and curing components.
• Execute inspections, quality checks, and preliminary testing to verify that all assemblies adhere to established specifications.
• Prepare workstations by organizing the necessary documentation, materials, and tools.
• Modify or trim components to ensure they align with required mechanical and electrical standards.
• Support the team by troubleshooting production issues and performing minor assembly reworks.
• Report quality or production concerns directly to team leads, engineers, or supervisors.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for the entire team.
• Contribute to the upkeep of production equipment and tools through preventive maintenance.

Required Qualifications

• A GED or high school diploma is mandatory, while an associate degree or technical certification is viewed favorably.
• Candidates with one to three years of experience in mechanical or electrical manufacturing assembly are preferred.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Demonstrated experience using measuring instruments, power tools, and hand tools.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical assembly methods, soldering, and electrical wiring.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality output.
• Capacity to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team or independently.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills.
• Help maintain a safe working environment by strictly following all safety protocols.
