Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of modern electrical practices, materials, and equipment for electrical installation, maintenance and repair
• Four (4) years' experience in the mechanics/maintenance craft
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License
• Possess a Black Seal License or must obtain one within two (2) years of employment
• Ability to perform tasks relating to other trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
• Knowledge of safety regulations governing the mechanics/maintenance craft
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers
• Ability to perform tasks with frequent heavy lifting
• Commitment to safety and PEOSHA regulations
• Experience with office equipment (telephone, copier, fax, E-mail)
• Criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal status

Responsibilities

• Expedite all work orders assigned by Facilities Manager
• Keep records on all projects as directed by Facilities Manager
• Read blueprints or technical diagrams
• Use electrical diagrams and manuals to complete projects
• Install and maintain wiring, control and lighting systems
• Inspect electrical components (transformers, circuit breakers)
• Install/maintain/repair distribution systems and equipment
• Remain in compliance with the National Electric Code
• Inspect/test components of electrical systems (transformers, transfer switches, switch gears)
• Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans
• Prioritize safety and environmental practices
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving
• Communicate effectively with team and customers
• Observe PEOSHA safety regulations and report unsafe conditions
• Be available after hours for emergencies
• Support projects in other departments as needed
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
