Job summary

The Electrical Technician role at Arkema in Mobile, AL, reports to the Shift Leader and collaborates with IEC craft, production engineering and scheduling to execute maintenance tasks safely and effectively.

You will perform calibration, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and electrical systems, including 12.5 kV distribution, environmental monitoring, and packaging equipment, while upholding HSE policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification in industrial electrical/instrument/control/HVAC systems.
  • Annual OSHA-approved CPR training.
  • Minimum 5-years related experience and/or 2-years of college/trade school in addition to High School Diploma.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, Excel).
  • Proficiency with plant software (CMMS, PI or similar).
  • Aptitude and skills assessment, troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work with other departments; team-oriented.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
  • Self-motivation and ability to multitask with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the IEC craft workers group.
  • Participates in daily maintenance execution meeting and Safety Toolbox discussion.
  • Completes assigned work order tasks in the IEC craft schedule.
  • Supports and performs instrument and electrical tasks on site.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment per HSE procedures.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending education workshops and reviewing materials.
  • Supports external IEC contract services and coordinates with planners.
  • Responsible for calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrument/electrical systems.
  • Calibrates pressure, flow, level, temperature, and pH instrumentation.
  • Manages environmental monitoring systems such as oxidizers, opacity monitors, and flares.
  • Maintains packaging equipment and wireless telemetry systems.
  • Covers electrical transmission and distribution systems including 12.5 kV lines and MCCs.
  • Performs Safety Critical PMs and assists in incident investigations.
  • Participates in on-call after-hours support as needed.

Job description

The Electrical Technician, reporting to the Shift Leader, will interact with all other trade, production engineering and scheduling groups to accomplish job duties. The Technician will comply with all HSEQ policies, regulations, and requirements as well as the Arkema rules/policies/procedures. The incumbent understands and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events in the process and reports all near misses, accidents or incidents to the supervisor. The position is located in a Chemical manufacturing facility with all the inherent risks. Activities may include:

  • Participates as a member of theInstrument,Electrical, andControls (IEC) craft workers group.
  • Participates in daily maintenance execution meeting and “Safety Toolbox” discussion.
  • Completes assigned work order tasks outlined in the IEC craft schedule.
  • Supports and performs assigned instrument and electrical tasks as required.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with HSE procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical materials and publications
  • External I&E contract services.
  • Assists Planner/Scheduler with coordinating external I&E contract resources as needed (APCO, Fenwal, Alabama Scale, Emerson-Rosemount, etc.).
  • Supports external controls contract service personnel as required while performing tasks on site.
  • Responsible for day-to-day calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the following instrument and electrical systems:
    • Pressure, flow, level, temperature, and PH instrumentation.
    • Environmental monitoring systems such as the thermal oxidizer, opacity monitors, and flares.
    • Packaging equipment
    • Wireless telemetry system
    • Electrical transmission and distribution systems including 12.5 kV line, switches, gangswitches, transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers (MCCs).
  • Complete Safety Critical PMs assigned to monitor compliance, troubleshoot malfunctions for cause and correction.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a technical certification in either industrial electrical/instrument/control/HVAC systems.
  • Must have annual OSHA-approved CPR training.
  • Minimum 5-years related experience and/or 2-years of college/trade school in addition to High School Diploma.
  • Proficiencywith standard Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, Excel).
  • Proficiencyof plant specific software (CMMS, PI or similar).
  • Successful completion of aptitude and skills assessment, troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well with other departments critical; must be self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with proficient driving skills and an acceptable driving record.
  • Self-motivation and ability to perform multiple tasks at once with minimum supervision
