Job summary

Arkema Inc. in South Carolina seeks a Maintenance Technician to manage a broad spectrum of I/E and Mechanical maintenance activities. You will troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment to keep the plant operating, with a progression plan toward full competency in all areas.

The role emphasizes safety leadership, asset reliability, and collaboration with plant operations to minimize production disruptions. Applicants with strong electrical/mechanical experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in process plant environments in electrical or mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct procurement of repair parts and materials for project maintenance and calibration of field instrumentation devices used on process equipment.
  • Install, calibrate, inspect and troubleshoot instruments and electrical equipment per NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA standards and Company guidelines.
  • Read and interpret drawings and documentation including P&IDs, ladder logic, electrical one-line diagrams, equipment drawings and control schematics.
  • Work safely on AC distribution systems from 480 V to 120 V.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFDs and motors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Run piping, install equipment, and use rigging and gasket torque techniques.
  • Be a Safety Leader and promote a Safety First culture.
  • Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism as part of a team or solo work.

This highly skilled job exists to manage a broad spectrum of maintenance activities – both I/E and Mechanical. This position provides troubleshooting, repair, replacement of equipment as needed to keep the plant operational. Depending on the needs of the plant, a new employee who does not have full competency will be in a progression plan that could start with I/E or mechanical. However, as the employee progresses it will include increasing amounts of I/E and mechanical skills ending in a Maintenance Technician who is fully capable in all aspects.

Responsibilities

I/E (50%) / Mechanical (50%)

  • Plan and direct procurement of repair parts and material for project Maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for process equipment.
  • Installation, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting of instruments and electrical equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA and Company Standards.
  • Identify, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation including P&ID’s, Ladder logic, Electrical One-line diagrams, Equipment Drawings, control schematics etc.
  • Work safely on AC distribution systems from 480 volts to 120 volts.
  • Troubleshoot, repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFD’s, motors and motor control circuits.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems
  • Perform PM’s as needed
  • Run piping, install equipment, use rigging skills, proper gasket torque techniques.
  • Be a Safety Leader and contribute to a ‘Safety First’ working culture.
  • Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team or when working alone.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years working experience in process plant environments in electrical or mechanical trades. Exception to minimum experience granted if the person enters the in-house apprenticeship program.
