Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Estimator to lead the preparation of estimates for diverse construction projects. The role involves interfacing with clients, procurement, and subcontractors to draft lump-sum bids and proposals from start to finish.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and at least three years of direct estimating experience, with strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or related field; 3 years estimating experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Quotesoft/Accubid/Oracle/PowerBI preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
• Knowledge of estimating procedures and cost control systems.
• Ability to work independently or in teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lump sum bids, proposals, unit costs and quantities for diverse projects.
• Consult with clients, procurement, subcontractors to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Interface with procurement and operations to support estimates.
• Assemble material and labor costs for proposals and construction projects.
• Present estimating information and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Review subcontractor quotes, RFPs and evaluations; ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Develop project summary schedules and estimating plans.
• Evaluate fee, contingency, and escalation and propose mitigations.
