Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Engineer for its Data Center Facilities Engineering Design team to lead instrumentation and control system design, plans, schematics, and one-lines. The role focuses on reliability, technical execution, and design leadership across projects in data center environments.

You will mentor engineers, review schematics and data sheets, and collaborate within multi-discipline teams to deliver robust electrical infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering
  • 7+ years' experience in instrumentation and control systems within the industrial electrical and/or hyperscale data center sector
  • Expertise in design, application, and implementation of distribution and generation instrumentation and control systems
  • Understanding of ISA, IEC, IEEE standards for instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience with DCS, SIS and PLCs; reading/creating P&IDs and control schematics

Responsibilities

  • Lead instrumentation/control design for projects and define control schemes aligned with industry standards
  • Review data sheets, block diagrams and functional/operational descriptions for instrumentation projects
  • Mentor and guide team members, developing engineers and technical leaders
  • Support instrumentation-related threat mitigation action plans and incident investigations
  • Ensure reliable real-time operation of instrumentation systems through studies and procedures

Job Description


Olsson is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Engineer for our Data Center Facilities Engineering Design team to help support the design development of the instrumentation and control systems associated with electrical distribution systems. The Electrical Instrumentation Engineer will provide technical leadership and expertise with respect to system modernization and maintenance, will create plans, schematics, and one-lines, and will lead and support small and large instrumentation and controls projects with a focus on reliability and technical execution.


Primary responsibilities:



  • Support instrumentation-related threat mitigation action plans and incident management investigations and actions

  • Ensure the smooth real-time operation of the instrumentation system by performing and analyzing technical studies and data, developing strategies and alternatives, and establishing and documenting operating procedures

  • Works within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable electrical design packages for low and medium voltage electrical infrastructure

  • Lead the Instrumentation and Control design for projects and define control scheme in alignment with industry and client standards to satisfy power system reliability requirements

  • Review data sheets, control block diagrams, and functional/ operational descriptions for all instrumentation related projects

  • Provide technical leadership and serves as a subject matter expert, delivering professional and technical guidance on programs, projects and initiatives.

  • Mentor and support team members, offering guidance and encouraging initiative while helping them develop as engineers and technical leaders.

Required qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering

  • 7+ years' experience in instrumentation and control systems within the industrial electrical and/or hyperscale data center sector

  • Expertise in the design, application, and implementation of distribution and generation instrumentation and control systems for building level infrastructures

  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the industry standards that governs the selection, testing and performance of instrumentation sensors and control schemes

  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of global standards such as ISA, IEC, IEEE and other related to instrumentation and control systems

  • Experience working with DCS, SIS and PLCs and developing, reading and understanding P&IDs and control schematics


Preferred qualifications:



  • License Professional Engineer (P.E.)
