You will perform electrical engineering and design assignments related to production, maintenance, process, capital projects, R&D, and power distribution, applying established electrical technology and principles. Responsibilities include electrical calculations, coordination with other engineering disciplines, and providing economical and expedient task implementation. The role involves participation in all electrical functions associated with projects, including front end loading, production design, electrical construction management, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting. You will provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers, with a high reliance on scientific interpretations and advice. • Design and specify electrical systems including power, control, cabling, lighting, motor control centers, communication systems, cathodic protection, grounding, lightning protection, and heat tracing.
  • Assess quality and robustness of capital projects.
  • Manage industrial electrical power distribution across high, medium, and low voltage systems.
  • Specify electrical equipment such as generators, substations, switchgear, transformers, and motor control centers.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, including single-line, three-line, schematics, wiring, and physical diagrams.
  • Participate in process control discussions, involving additional technical resources as needed.
  • Provide engineering, checkout, and qualification for process control systems, including DCS, instrumentation, and PLCs.
  • Responsible for design, specification, and services related to instrumentation and control systems.
  • Lead or self-perform project scope, providing technical guidance and planning.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis.
  • Define process design basis and interface with other disciplines.
  • Develop project estimates, scope, and schedule, and lead estimate reviews.
  • Work with Construction during FEL and oversee project execution in the field.
  • Forecast and track project costs monthly.
  • Manage scope changes both technically and commercially.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA 70E/NEC, OSHA, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, ASI).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the chemical, refining, or biofuels industry.
  • Experience with P&ID development, equipment sizing, electrical calculations, and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in process design on capital projects, including budget, schedule, and change management.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is a plus but not required.
