Job summary

General Matter, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering Intern for Summer 2027.

You will support design, analysis, testing, and implementation of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems for a modern uranium enrichment facility. You will work with experienced engineers across power, instrumentation, automation, and controls, gaining hands‑on experience through the full lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with power systems, instrumentation & controls, circuit design, embedded systems, or power electronics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, analysis, testing, and evaluation of electrical systems from low‑voltageDC to high‑voltage power distribution.
• Support development of instrumentation and control systems for the enrichment facility.
• Perform load calculations, power distribution studies, and analyze onsite power generation including backup power and microgrid architectures.
• Contribute to electrical system documentation: schematics, specifications, wiring diagrams, and design packages.
• Participate in component selection, prototyping, hardware bring‑up, debugging, and validation testing.
• Support qualification and acceptance testing for electrical and control systems.
• Collaborate across disciplines to ensure safety, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability.
