Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a skilled avionics technician to assemble prototype and flight-grade avionics, solder PCBAs, and build lab harnesses in a precision-focused environment. You will develop circuits for debugging and contribute to design improvements while managing lab work and documentation.

The role emphasizes meticulous assembly, use of basic electronic test equipment, and adherence to safety and quality standards within Blue Origin Engines Avionics team in Seattle.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience assembling avionics/high-precision electronics.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures.
• Proficiency with basic electronic lab test equipment (power supplies, multimeters).
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and use precision measuring tools.
• Experience in assembly of avionics or similar high-precision electronics.

Passion for our mission and vision is required!Special Mentions:This position is scheduled for 40 hours with additional weekdays/overtime as necessary.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assembling prototype and flight-grade avionics assembliesSoldering printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and other surface mount technology (SMT) level printed circuit board work down to 0201 sized components. Typically repairs and rework.Develop lab circuits to aid the development and debug of electronic designs.Building wire harness/cable assemblies for lab useProvide feedback on new assemblies, identifying improvements to existing designs and improving or updating outdated designs.Process non-conformances and related documentationTesting and qualifying avionicsMinimum Qualifications:Experience with ESD prevention and controlsUnderstanding of basic electronics theory – voltage, resistance, currentAbility to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures.2+ years of experience in assembly of avionics, automotive electronics, electronic medical devices, or other similar high precision assemblies.Proficient in the use of basic electronic lab test equipment, such as power supplies and handheld multimetersAbility to use standard mechanical tools, precision measuring devices and fabrication shop equipment.Ability to lift 25 lbs.Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong analytical and organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and desire for continuous improvementPreferred Qualifications:Current or expired certifications in PCBA inspection (IPC-A-610), harness assembly (IPC/WHMA-A-620), soldering (J-STD-001), PCBA rework (IPC-7711/7721)Familiarity with basic PCB layout tools is a plus.Experience with pottingExperience working in a R&D within space, aviation, automotive or medical fields.Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $29.91 - $41.87Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
