Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington is seeking an experienced Test Equipment and Manufacturing Automation Engineer to design, build, test, and maintain avionics ground and test systems for engineering development and production.

You will assemble electrical and mechanical systems from engineering drawings, calibrate test systems, review procedures, and contribute to process improvements while upholding 5S and ESD practices in a lab environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in electronic test systems troubleshooting, repair, and operation.
  • Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical manuals/detailed work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with electronic test instruments, systems and software.
  • Proficient level knowledge of 5S, ESD, FOD and Tool Control best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windchill.
  • 8+ years’ experience in the aerospace industry, aerospace maintenance or aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting manufacturing test systems for space grade avionics.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Visio, Jira Products (ITS & Confluence) and Windchill.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and mechanical systems using engineering drawings.
  • Assemble, test and rework cable and harness assemblies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on test systems following engineering work instructions.
  • Review, execute and help improve test procedures and processes.
  • Provide input on streamlining test procedures and process improvements.
  • Uphold 5S principles to keep the lab clean and organized.
  • Ensure lab equipment remains calibrated and labs are used in an ESD safe environment.
