Presently, our HORIBA Scientific OEM Division is searching for an experienced Electrical Hardware Design Engineer for our North American operation located in Piscataway, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will possess a strong electronics design and development background and will contribute technically to an engineering team focusing on the design and development of CCD / CMOS high-speed imaging systems. Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Minimum of a BSEE degree with 6 to 10 years of directly related experience.
  • Alternatively, 12+ years of equivalent engineering design experience related to instrumentation, analytical instruments, or embedded control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and testing of Light Detecting Systems involving CCDs, PDAs, InGaAs, and CMOS sensors.
  • Participate in all phases of product development: definition, design, qualification, and production support.
  • Design mixed-signal circuits with Op-Amps, Voltage References, DACs, ADCs, and discrete semiconductors.
  • Design FPGA-based high-speed digital circuitry with LVDS and MIPI interfaces for sensor control.
  • Assist in PCB layout/routing for new board and product designs.
  • Contribute to the design of board-level test fixtures.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles in both analog and digital domains.
  • Design experience with low noise/wide bandwidth analog and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems with interfaces like USB 2/3, Gig-E, LVDS, MIPI, SPI, and I2C.
  • Knowledge of power distribution and management techniques.
  • Ability to guide multi-layer PCB design considering stack-up, parts placement, and routing.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as scopes, DVMs, power supplies, function generators, and analyzers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and SMT soldering skills.
  • Production support experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Attributes (plus if possessed):

  • Knowledge of CCD and CMOS imager architectures.
  • FPGA design with Verilog/VHDL, using Altera/Xilinx tools.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Design experience with Renesas and Cypress processors.
  • Experience designing products to meet CE & LVD safety standards.
  • Project leadership skills.
