Job summary

Direct Electric Services, an established commercial electrical contractor serving the DC and Baltimore metro area, seeks seasoned electricians to join our team in the Washington region.

Positions include apprentices, foremen, and mechanics with strong NEC knowledge, blueprint reading, and fault-finding skills. We offer a company vehicle, parking, and a company phone/iPad to support field work and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Maintain current Journeyman electrician's license or four years of an approved apprenticeship program with a minimum of 5 years on-the-job training.
• Proficient in the Electrical Code, including interpretation of tables and calculations.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring to code.
• Strong math and measurement skills for layout and calculations.
• Read blueprints and perform fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Read drawings and determine wiring locations to conform to building codes.
• Install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and fixtures using hand/power tools.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards and code compliance.
• Supervise a crew of 1-10 workers and train employees in NEC-compliant installations.

Direct Electric Services is an established commercial electrical contractor looking for seasoned apprentices, foremen, and mechanics to join our team of professionals. We perform commercial work in and around the Washington DC metro area.

Full job description available at interview. Below are requirements for the position:

• Maintain current Journeyman electrician's license or four years of an approved apprenticeship program with a minimum of 5 years of documented on the job training.
• Be proficient in the use of the Electrical Code book including interpretation of tables, calculations, and an application of the code in daily activities.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Should have good math skills, as they will need to take measurements, perform lighting and equipment layout and work with numbers.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
• Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Journeyman electricians will also need to be able to read blueprints, work in small spaces and lift heavy equipment.
• Be proficient with fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
• Review and ask RFI's for drawings that are in conflict with each other or submittals
• Communicate with the PM and Super for the project.
• Order materials according to project needs and specifications.
• Attend progress meetings
• Able to use company provided technology and tools
• Train employees in NEC code compliant installations and workmanship
• Supervise a crew from 1-10 workers
• Be a positive representation of the company
